How Social Media Became Our “Discovery” Channel

In a recent blog post (“Please Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood: Social Media’s Image Problem“) fisher VISTA’s Christopher Watkins takes issue with a survey/infographic titled “What Content Has The Most Clout.” Christopher writes:

“I find studies like this to be somewhat misleading when it comes to the impact of social media, because while at first glance this data might appear to support the idea that white papers, for example, are far more valuable, effective and influential than are blog posts and other social content, it fails to factor in the extent to which social media is actually HOW buyers found those white papers in the first place………I’d be willing to bet a great many of those buyers discovered that valuable content VIA social media platforms.”
